Objectives of the questionnaire February 20, 2012

Filed under: General — youropiaeshn @ 9:44 pm

– We questioned Portuguese individuals from our school, of both genders, from the region of Torres Vedras, in the age group between 13 and 25 years and with two different levels of qualifications. We questioned 37 individuals from the 10th grade and 48 from the 12th grade, frequenting the scientific humanistic course plus 11 individuals from the 10th grade and 23 from the 12th grade, frequenting the professional courses.

– Our questionnaire was made via our school website, using the MOODLE platform and was restricted to the population we wanted to enquire. We were interested in seeing what do school teenagers think and do about their future in various dimensions.

– Our objective is to present conclusions regarding the young Portuguese who are in our region today, their lifestyles, with whom they live, what they want and what they do, what they study, what they think and what they feel, what is their culture and what are their major fears and concerns.

– The questionnaire is divided into two parts: one part is related to personal aspects of the respondent and the other part is related to the view that they have of their future and that of Europe.

– A total of 119 individuals replied to our questionnaire, which corresponds to approximately 10% of our school population. We questioned 37 individuals from the 10th grade and 48 from the 12th grade, frequenting the scientific humanistic course plus 11 individuals from the 10th grade and 23 from the 12th grade, frequenting the professional courses.

1st meeting in Glasgow (Anniesland College) Scotland – UK November 5, 2011

Filed under: General — Jorge Rocha @ 10:09 pm

At this 1st meeting it was decided to set a timetable for transnational meetings in Augsburg (Germany), Verona (Italy), Torres Vedras (Portugal), Barcelona (Spain) and a final meeting in Lodz (Poland).

The 2 days meeting in Glasgow was largely preparatory, with all partners introducing and presented their school via PowerPoint and reinforcing the project aims. We then continued with the outline of the project and how we would achieve the main aims of the project, how much our students consider of the EU, the use of a specific questionnaire, newsletter/magazine, web-site, application outcomes, organisational issues, responsibilities, working methodologies, the use of role reversal between students and teachers, work-plan, and reschedule of meetings due to the withdrawal of our Hungarian partner.

We decided the main topics of the student’s questionnaire. We decided that the questionnaire could be adapted/designed across the partnership to suit students’ groups, and should include information around:

  • Student Background – interests, hobbies, leisure time, music, icons, sports, worries, fears, family life, culture;
  • Education study, progression, qualifications, transfer of skills;
  • Employment – availability of employment opportunities, areas of employment growths;
  • Environment – highlights of environmental issues, how it will affect young people;
  • Europe – identity, priorities, expectations, immigration, migration.

…….

The partnership also agreed some other duties, like:

  • Project evaluation: the Greek partners would work on, therefore each partner should complete the agreed evaluation pro-forma and sent to Eleftherios Venizelos.
  • Project Newsletter/magazine:  this would be coordinated by the partner from Holland with the collaboration of various project partners.

Cultural Tour: we settled for a visit to the local Whiskey Distillery – Auchentoshan, followed by a shopping trip into Glasgow City Centre and a meal within the Merchant City area of Glasgow. In the day after, the cultural tour continued in Edinburg (visit to the Castle, the Holy Road, etc.).

Preparatory visit in Bucarest October 5, 2011

Filed under: General — Jorge Rocha @ 9:28 pm

“Youropia – Youth for Europe” is a project designed in a “Preparatory Visit” held in January 2011, in Bucharest, and which was attended by professors José do Vale (sub-Director) and Jorge Rocha (teacher of philosophy and psichology).

At the meeting in the capital of Romania were teachers from eight schools belonging to seven EU countries. Other schools from other countries were linked by electronic mail. So, this resulted in a project involving schools in the following countries: Portugal, Spain, Italy, Greece, Germany, Holland, Poland and Scotland.

The preparatory visit followed the program outlined by the host school. “Benjamin Franklin.” The hospitality of the Romanian teachers and the experience of many of the partners involved in this project made easier the task of defining a project. The work that was developed before the implementation of mobility also facilitated the activities in Romania.

Now you can see some pictures from this meeting.
